ESC 2012, semi-final 2 - Bosnia & Herzegovina


Maja Sarihodžić (born July 12 1981 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina), stage name Maya Sar, is a Bosnian singer.

Before she started her solo career, Maya was a backing vocalist for many famous singers, including Dino Merlin and Tony Cetinski. Her first single Nespretno was released in March 2010 and it became a big hit in Bosnia & Herzegovina as well as in other neighbouring countries. She is the founder of the ragional humanitarian project in the fight against cervical cancer Moj Je život Moja Pjesma (My Life Is My Song) and the composer and songwriter of the eponymous song which is performed by leading stars in region like Nina Badric, Karolina Goceva, Aleksandra Radovic and Maya Sar herself. For this, she received the Gold plaque of the great human heart by the International League of Humanists (Dr. Elisabeth Rehn). Her first album is to be released in 2012.

Since 2002, Maja has been married to Mahir Sarihodžić. Her husband is a music producer and together they own a recording studio Long Play. They live in Sarajevo.

Maya Sar participated on Eurovision as a back vocalist in 2004 and 2011, both times for the entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On December 15, 2011 it was confirmed that Maya Sar will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina with the song Korake Ti Znam in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
