Mathias Holmgren

Mathias Holmgren Ulf Thorsell, born April 20, 1974 in Arvika, Värmland County, is a Swedish singer.

Mathias had his breakthrough in 2002 in the reality show Fame Factory and has had hits like Jag Tillhör Dig and Något Som Kan Hända which was a no. 1 one hit in the Swedish charts. He replaced Magnus Carlsson as leadsinger of the band Barbados. He was fired in 2004 and was followed by Chris Lind.

Holmgren has participated in Melodifestivalen twice. In 2003 along with Barbados and the song Bye Bye, which came in tenth place. Two years later he participated as a solo artist with the song Långt Bortom Tid Och Rum (2005) which stranded in the semi-finals.

After this Mathias released three successful albums on which he covered I'm Not Afraid To Move On which was the Norwegian entry in 2003. Mathias' Swedish version is called Och Bara Med Dig Aer Jag Hel.

Holmgren was 2006-2010 married to singer and songwriter Johan Thorsell.
